Shadow Dungeon Items: Affixes, Sets, Runes & Sprites
The Numbers (All Official)
Every figure below comes from OO Cat’s “Complete Official Version Content” announcement (Aug 22, 2026) or the Steam store description:
| System | Scale |
|---|---|
| Total equipment pieces | 100,000,000+ (legendary & mythic = over half of all loot) |
| Weapon affixes | 1,000+ across 5 categories |
| Weapon-granted skills | 2,400 |
| Class sets | 15 per class × 4 classes |
| Talent Skill Runes | 370 (rift-exclusive) |
| Equipment Skill Runes | 6,800 (rift-exclusive) |
| Attribute Runes | 60 (rift-exclusive) |
Affix Categories Explained
The five affix categories are Basic, Special, Negative Effects, Skills, and Summoning Skills. The last two are the build-defining ones — they put whole abilities on your gear. New granted-skill types in 1.0 include auras, trap launchers, skill conversions, shields that block enemy projectiles, skill combo launchers, and a family of summoning upgrades (creature accessories, creature attacks with bonus skills).
Practical read order when an item drops: granted skill first (does it fit your build?), then Special affixes, then raw stats. A statistically weaker weapon with the right granted skill usually wins.
Sets: Where Builds Bend
Each class has 15 sets, and per the official notes “most sets include affixes that alter skill forms” — the same talent plays differently in different sets. Sets begin mattering in the late campaign and dominate rift builds. There is no official set database yet; we list set mechanics only as the developer documents them.
Runes and Enhancement (Rift-Exclusive Layer)
The three rune families plus Socketing Stones, Super Enhancement Stones, Essence Stones, Permanent Magic Stones, and the Golden Hammer and Divine Mirror all drop inside Greater Rifts — the campaign never sees them. That split is deliberate: the campaign teaches affixes, rifts teach optimization.
Treasure Sprites
Added in 1.0: sprites pick up equipment for you, salvage unwanted gear directly into gold, carry unique per-sprite effects, and can pass through walls to retrieve stuck drops. With no loot filter in the game yet (the community’s top request — see our review), a salvage-tuned sprite is the closest thing to one.
